Black And Blue

I woke up this morning, a bottle of whisky was by my side
The label said “Don’t worry, I’m a friend”
So I get up and I take her for a ride
And I end up in the off license again

When you left me I knew it would never be the same
I still see you in my dreams so quiet and free
I think of the children, I’ll never look into those eyes again
If I see them I just know that they won’t know me

Black and blue, nothing matters without you
I’m so tired I can’t see the sun
Black and blue, would it make any difference if you knew
That I’m trying to say sorry hon

For all the things I put you through
And the things we’ll never do
And the times we cried
And the things we kept on the inside
It’s all on the inside

I’m not eating so much, these days the kitchen seems so bare
Tonight by the stove I swear I saw your shadows
And I miss those meals like I miss the highlights in your hair
So I’ll drive this bottle down another lonely road
