The New Dawn
He lived in a small café on Whitworth Street That's where he kept his dreams But now he's selling up and moving on To chase some other schemes But I see myself in his eyes Wragby Road is just a memory to me Though to my friends it's real enough I can't go back that way or so it seems I left behind all that kind of stuff But I see myself their eyes Remember all the things we went through together The laughter and the pain and the stormy weather And the times we cried This old airstrip still makes me sad Because it holds all my memories of you It's getting to feel like memories were all I ever had Still I guess they'll have to do Because I see myself in your eyes Always trying to find a new dawn in the sunrise And the hurt and pain always come as such a surprise Because the new dawn never arrives
