Weight
Before undertaking the walk I intentionally put on about a kilo in weight to give myself extra reserves. On arriving home I had lost three kilos (so I was two kilos lighter than normal). It is evident, looking back, that I was practically incapable of eating enough food to provide the amount of energy I was using up. Even though I did my best to eat lots (pints of whole milk, always two tins of food for dinner, 250g portions of muesli in the morning) I clearly was using up calories far more quickly than I was taking them in!

Cost
Although I did not keep track of the costs exactly I know that the total expenditure was significantly less than £100. My guess is probably about £70. Not bad for an eleven day vacation these days! Excluded from this however is the initial outlay on equipment. I was lucky to inherit my tent from my Grandad and to already have items like water proofs and a sleeping bag. I did purchase my stove and rucksack though. It's scary to think that you are travelling around with over £500 worth of gear on your back!
