P.S

The walk had been eminently successful with harebells all the way. I had had no tea or coffee for six days - and survived! About 250 stiles had been climbed. Many kindly, friendly people had been met and an interesting variety of dogs, from a minute Jack Russell who wouldn't permit his master to go through long grass, to gigantic Great Dane, not to mention family of mother sheepdog and four beautiful puppies all of whom greeted me with delight! The whole walk had taken 10½ days 3 hours and averaged a little over 16 miles per day. The new Brasher boots were excellent even when wet and on this second half my feet suffered not a bit. I estimate the mileage at around 180 including errors and divergences. The guidebook was quite adequate and I took no maps
