DAY 6 - Off Home
Thursday 19th May 1983

A thoroughly lousy night and a wet tent packing in the morning. How to get back was, so far unknown but, in the town at 8 o'clock, I learned first that there was a station, second that there were trains and third that the next one ran in half an hour! The station was derelict - one paid on the train, but the train took me swiftly to Shrewsbury. Then, after a brief wait on to Wolverhampton and then an excellent train to Banbury where I arrived at 12:30pm. A taxi was waiting and I paid him off £2-15 at 12:40pm precisely, at the door of No. 4. From Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton I enjoyed the company of a fine old(80) rambler from Llandrindod Wells where he leads walks for parties of children and also for Saga holidays.

To be continued - I hope!
